The internet has decided that 2026 is the new 2016. Old photo filters are back. Throwback songs are back. People are posting pictures from ten years ago like it was yesterday. Nobody planned this, but here we are.
These comics celebrate the trend and the strange feeling that a whole decade went by in about five minutes.
1. Ten years ago
A person looks at a photo from 2016 on their phone, then at the mirror, then back at the phone, in shock.
Wait, that was TEN years ago?
2. The filters return
A friend group takes a selfie with old puppy-ear and flower-crown filters, laughing.
Some trends never die. They just take a nap.
3. The playlist
Someone plays “throwback hits” at a party. Everyone sings along to songs that feel brand new to them.
“Throwback” is a scary word when you remember buying it.
4. Mannequin mode
A whole office freezes in funny poses while one confused new employee walks in.
Some challenges stay in your heart forever.
5. Old you vs. new you
Split panel: 2016 person with huge headphones and a big smile; 2026 person with the same headphones but a back pain patch.
Same style. Different back.
6. Catching creatures again
A group of friends walks around a park staring at their phones, hunting for imaginary creatures, just like 2016.
We touched grass. To catch things.
7. Parents discover the trend
Mom posts her 2016 photo with the caption “2026 is the new 2016!!!” with 47 emojis.
Mom joined the trend. The trend is over.
8. The phone gallery
A person scrolls through 20,000 photos to find 2016 pictures. Their thumb is wrapped in a bandage.
Somewhere between 2016 and now are 9,000 screenshots.
9. Teen confusion
A teenager asks: “What was 2016 like?” A parent sits in a rocking chair like a grandparent telling an ancient story.
Back in my day, we had… fidget spinners. Wait, that was 2017.
10. See you in 2036
Final panel: friends take a selfie today and say: “Can’t wait to post this as a throwback in 2036.”
Making memories for future nostalgia.
