The first horror movie that was ever made was The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari in 1920. It was directed by Robert Wiene and it is about a guy who gets out of his prison cell and takes revenge on everyone who put him there.
Some other famous horror movies are Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, An American Werewolf in London, and Jaws and Alien. These movies caused many people to get scared of swimming at the beach or going into the water because they thought there might be some kind of man-eating monster lurking just below their feet waiting to hunt them down.
